Five Months & Flapping Her Jaw

Gia has something to tell you.

Gia still loves to eat! Daddy was giving her some BIG bites, and she was all about it.
On Friday, Lisa, Reese, and Bree came to spend the day with us. I always love any opportunity to visit with Lisa! We spent countless hours together at the Boys and Girls Club in a super small office throughout college; no wonder we became such close friends! Reese, who is about 22 months, had fun with Vito while Gia and Bree, who is about four months, had fun watching one another and playing with Gia's toys.

Now that cross country is over, I am looking forward to being home earlier with Gia. Pajama time won't come quite so quickly! Between coaching and my grad classes, I have been extremely busy. Work has been more demanding for Ryan lately too, but he has been so helpful. There is no way that I could accomplish all that I am without him.

Early Christmas Present

Gia and I met Grandma and Grandpa right outside of Madison today to give them a present.
Look really carefully in the truck. Nope, it's not Vito; this is Lacy! This all started as somewhat of a joke. Ryan found a posting on Craig's list for her. I told my mom to look at the pictures because the dog and Vito look so much alike. Then I told her that Lacy (previously Daisy) could be theirs for Christmas. Within five hours of Ryan emailing me the pictures to see, Lacy was on her way to meet her new owners! Grandma and Grandpa won't try to steal Vito anymore because they have their own doggy. We wish them luck, and we are excited to see Lacy again during Halloween weekend.

Update on Gianna

I can't believe that Gia is almost five months old! Ryan and I believe that we will have our hands full in a couple of years, yet we can't wait for Gianna to be able to move around and talk. She seems so eager to do those things already!

Gia makes all sorts of oohs, aahs, and YAAAs, some with her tongue in her mouth and some with it out. Once in awhile, she fake coughs and then looks at us for a reaction. She likes it when I go through the alphabet making sounds...aaa, AAA, bababa, th, th, th, sss...She smiles and makes noises in response.

Eating is still going great! I want to wait a little longer before introducing new foods, but she likes the rice cereal. She opens wide for every spoonful. Molly and Genevieve brought us some of Genevieve's favorite baby foods, so we are ready whenever we decide to get started.

Tummy time is a whole different world than it once was. I think that Gianna actually likes it sometimes! She is getting braver by the day. Now she tries to grab toys or the crinkly elephant ear and butterfly that are on her gymini while she is on her tummy. She still rolls over, but she does more side to side rolling. Gia loves her jumperoo too. She bounces like crazy. Tonight, I was jumping around like a spaz, and she would laugh at me and start jumping herself. We do anything to make her laugh!

Gia still sleeps wonderfully. We get into PJ's, read books, eat, and go to bed around 7:30. The little sleeper usually doesn't wake up until 6 or 7 in the morning! When we go to get her from her crib, she always looks at us and smiles. It is the best way to start the day! She often cries when I drop her off at daycare though. Ryan experienced this for the first time last week. He said that Gia grabbed his finger as tightly as she could, looked right at him, and cried. I just hope that she grows out of this before she becomes even more dramatic. Tricia, the sitter, always says, "You little faker." Gianna is happy as pie when we pick her up, so I think Tricia is right.

Ryan and I know that we are super lucky. We couldn't ask for a better baby. She eats, sleeps, smiles, giggles, and cuddles. We love her to pieces!

Happy Birthday Uncle Clay!

We'll be home soon to visit you!

I have big eyes like you, but I don't look like a mini grandma like you looked like a mini grandpa when you were my size!

Ferguson's Petting Zoo

In September, Gia, my dad, and I went to Ferguson's Apple Orchard. If you remember, I forgot my camera and had to buy a disposable. I finally got it developed, and here is Gia on her first trip to the petting zoo. She could have cared less, but I was excited!

Playing With Bennett and Maryn

Yesterday, the Conleys came over to play in the leaves and visit.

Gia can't quite reach the floor in her jumperoo, but now that she has a pillow under her feet, she loves it! Every time Maryn and Bennett jumped up and down, Gia did too. She seems to like the baby version of follow the leader recently.

Tonight, Ryan and Dave planted a tree for Gianna on our lot in Holmen. We are looking forward to watching Gia and Tree grow!

May Girls

We had a girls weekend while Ryan went fishing up north with Dave. Aunt April, Aunt Debbie, Amber, Mom, and Andrea all came to visit. We had lots of fun hanging pictures and decorations and just talking and laughing as usual.

Gia learned some things over the weekend after spending time with the girls...

Pretty Little Girl

Gia found a new way to pass the time.

She also started to eat rice cereal!
